St Marque Inlet The British and French defeated China in a second opium war in 1856. By the terms of the Treaty of Tientsin (1858), St Marque Inlet was ceded to Great Britain. Soon after it decleared autonomy and was forgotten about until the latter half of the 20th century. Located near the economic powerhouses in southern China, more than 40,000 foreign enterprises have gone into business here since 1979. Hong Kong accounts for 2/3 of firms investing in the province. It has become a rather popular place for investment and is rich in resources as it has never been fully explored untill recently. New gold, uranium and diamond mines are opening often and South Korea is heavily investing in St Marque Inlets ship building program. New trade deals are struck daily with other SCJU members and now with Nations outside of the SCJU. More later on these deals.

Economic development was spurred in the late 18th century with thousands of gold mines located through out the mountain areas. Since then, the Kingdoms mild climate, splendid scenery, and educational facilities have made St Marque Inlet world famous as a tourist, recreation and educational center as well as an economic powerhouse.

Economy of St Marque Inlet

St Marque Inlet has a free market, it is highly dependent on Chinese and other International trade, and natural resources are plentiful, with food and raw materials an essential export. After Hong Kong reverted to Chinese Administration on 1 July 1997, St Marque Inlet saw huge investment from both Europe, the US and Hong Kong. St Marque Inlet has recently been integrating its economy with other Asian economies and with China's growing openness to the world economy, has made St Marque Inlet a prefered location for shipping of manufactured goods from China to the rest of the World a much more cost effective export system. St Marque Inlet's re-export business to and from China is a major driver of growth. Per capita GDP is comparable to that of the four big economies of Western Europe. GDP growth averaged a strong 5% from 1989 to 2005. In 2003 the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak battered St Marque Inlet's economy, but a solid rise in exports, a boom in tourism from the Mainland China due to their easing of travel restrictions, entrance to the SCJU and a return of consumer confidence resulted in the resumption of strong growth from late 2003 through to 2006.
