The monarch is the head of state of the Savoyard Confederation and the Coregency of Nice. Savoy, being a federal constitutional monarchy with a representative democracy based on a parliamentary system has a largely ceremonial monarch, though officially he/she holds the highest public office in Savoy and the highest military rank. The King (and thus implicitly any queen regnant) must also be a Christian. The current monarch of Savoy is King Louis-Philippe.
