New Rhodesia City Zoological Gardens & Parkland, or more colloquially 'New Rhodesia City Zoo', is a very large zoo located in the capital city of the Dominion of Wales. It is the only Zoo in the entire country and has become an established & well-connected institution since its inception. It is the 6th oldest Zoo in the world, and is a member of the Captive Breeding Programme (CPB) for purposes of reintroduction of species into the wild to shore up numbers. With this in mind, the Zoo strives to maintain a gender balance for species in the park, and as per park charter no animal may be the sole of its kind on exhibit, thereby necessitating the need for large paddocks, herds and prides.
As hinted to as above, the Zoological Gardens have more in common with Safari Parks than a typical zoo. In 1983, 1990, 2001, 2005 & 2009 the park was awarded the seal of zoological excellence by the International Committee for the Humane Treatment of Animals.
