The Imperial Atlantean Empire is an Imperial Constitutional Monarchy located in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Its home planet is Atlantis but the empire stretches across over 500 light-years and consists of 18 planets and two colonies on foreign planets including Perseus on Earth. The Atlantean Empire is one of the most powerful within the explored galaxy and wields a great degree of diplomatic, military, technological and economic power.

The First Atlantean Empire
The Planet of Atlantis was once home to over 80 independent nations all varied in size and power. The nation of Atlantis was the largest and most powerful, at its peak it governed a quarter of the planetary population by means of the First Atlantean Empire. During this age, Atlantean ideals, culture and its language was exported to all parts of the world. Its power was limited by the presence of the Galadorian Empire, for over 80 years these two imperial nations fought over and plundered the weaker nations of the planet. The earlier years are some of the darkest in the history of this world with widespread conflict and population subjection, many of the weaker nations were colonised and the structures and culture imposed on the people. Galador was the worst perpetrator of violence against ethnic populations in its bid to rival the power and size of Atlantis.
This conflict culminated in the Great Aleppo War. Aleppo was an Atlantean colony close to the Strait of Sochi and the Galadorian colony of Mesina-Arak, it was rich in mineral wealth and heavily protected by Atlantis. In the year 2036 Galador launched a surprise attack on the Aleppo capital of Sivas. Located close to the Aleppo border, an army of over 5000 marched toward the city assisted by heavy artillery, its protective city walls were severely weakened and the army entered the city and carried out a brutal campaign of murder and destruction. They stormed the colonial residence and murdered the Governor-General and his family before burning the mansion to the ground. The city barracks were destroyed and over 1000 Imperial Guards were killed in addition to over 30,000 Sivas residents.
This gross act was the starting point of a war that would last for over 25 years and lead to the death of 9 million people and the eventual collapse of both the Atlantean and Galadorian empires. Atlantis emerged as the victor, but the victor that inherited a planet in disarray, colonial uprising and economic devastation. Within 20 years of the ending of the war the empire of Atlantis has collapsed with a few colonial assets remaining under direct control and a further 10 under dominion status. The nation of Galdor was humiliated and defeated and its empire vanished, under the Aleppo Treaty it was banned from having a standing military exceeding that needed to protect its land within its homeland borders.
Atlantis and pre-existing nations formed the World Council in 2075. Its aim was to promote global co-operation and peace and try and prevent a repeat of the war that has devastated the planet. The World Council Accords stopped short of preventing nations acquiring colonial interests, something that would lead to the eventual collapse of the established world order.
The Golden Age and Prelude to War
After the founding of the World Council, the planet attained a level of peace not before seen. Minor and small scale conflicts continued but the major powers were at peace and began to prosper. Atlantis saw its economy recover and along with the nations of Sentainmus, Bayonne, Sakata, Namur and Arusha began to dominate the world markets leading economic growth and technological innovation. In 2085 they formed the Global Trade Partnership, GTP, and became know as the GTP 6. This new organisations greatly enhanced worldwide trade and lead rapid globalisation. Atlantis and Arusha dominated as the largest economies and their leading companies took advantage of the preferential regulations and rapidly expanded.
The nation of Galdor, remained in economic and political isolation until 2090, ending 29 years of exclusion. The nation began its recovery, still bound by some military restrictions and under the watchful gaze of Atlantis.
Sardaukar War and the Second Atlantean Empire
From the outset the war had a conclusion and that was an Atlantean Allied victory. Atlantis was by far of the most militarily powerful on the planet and a member of the strongest unions that existed. The beginning of the war was however hard on Atlantis, initial missile attacks devastated many Atlantean cities and the capital Queenstown suffered the worst. The missile attacks became less of a threat once the Royal Air Force has destroyed most of the launch facilities. The GTP collapsed after Sakata and Namur left in favour of neutrality, the remaining nations joined with Atlantis and another 20 members of the World Council to lead the fight against the Sardaukar Commonwealth, itself assisted by 5 other nations that joined with them and left the World Council.

The Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis is ruled by His Majesty Emperor Stormont III. The Kingdom operates a constitutional monarchy. The Emperor however has the power to revoke all government powers and rule alone. This has never been used, but the Emperor reserves the right to do so if necessary.
The Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis is a free and democratic nation, every 6 years the people elect members to sit in the Imperial Parliament and the Congressional Senate. It is compulsory for every adult above the age of 18 in the Kingdom to vote. The largest party elected to the Imperial Parliament is invited to form a government and the party leader is elected as Prime Minister of The Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis and is Deputy Head of Government after the Emperor. The current Prime Minister is the Rt. Hon Andrew Mountbatten.
The largest party in the Kingdom is currently The National Democratic Party (formerly known as the NMCP, National Movement for Reconciliation and Prosperity). The party of opposition is the Atlantis Liberal Party. Other parties include the Alliance Party, Party for Social Liberals and the Conservative Democrats.
The Congressional Senate votes on the bills, laws and measures put forward and voted on by the Imperial Parliament, it provides a forum where bills can be discussed at great measure and if necessary be put to a government committee before becoming law.
All the colonial nations of the Imperial Empire send a representative to Atlantis to sit in the Colonial Congress . The Imperial Kingdom has an official alliance with the Royal Britannic Empire and Arabian Kingdom. The Kingdom also has a ‘special relationship’ with the Irish Republic State. The Kingdom will protect the Republic in time of war, provide immediate refuge and full assistance in time of crisis.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
His Highness Prince Stormont was born in Atlantis on August 12th 2305 to His Majesty Emperor Stormont II and Her Majesty the Imperial Empress Brigid Charlotte Stormont at the Imperial Palace
He attended the Atlantis University, followed by 2 years at Cambridge in Britannia and a further one year at Lycee affaires et sciences économiques in Paris . He returned to Atlantis and trained at Mount Stewart, home of the Imperial Guard. Prince Stormont also spent 2 years with the Imperial Navy. In 2337 his was on a state visit to the Arabian Kingdom when the news that Emperor Stormont II had died led to him returning to a grieving nation. His father was buried in the Cathedral of the Empire alongside Emperor Stormont I.
One week later Andrew Michael William Bernard Stormont was crowned 3rd Emperor of the Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis and her colonies.
The Emperor is Head of State and Government. The Imperial Kingdom has an elected congressional Senate and Parliament, the Emperor does retain the power to over-rule the Parliament and Senate and rule without either or both houses. However, this power has never been used.
Her Imperial Majesty Empress Romanov-Stormont was born on Caledon, the eldest daughter of the mighty Romanov Family, who are descended from the old Caledon Royal Family which ruled Caledon for over 900 years before it was replaced by short lived republic and later the Atlantean Imperial Rule.
She met His Imperial Majesty at the age of 19 at the Stormont Imperial Ball in Atlantis City. Introduced, they soon became closer and began a relationship within 13 months.
His Imperial Highness The Prince Regent is the heir apparent to the Atlantean Throne.
His Imperial Highness Prince Julius Stormont is the second son of His and Her Imperial Majesty and is currently holds the position as Commander in the Atlantean Space Fleet
His Imperial Highness Prince Amadeus Stormont is the third son of His and Her Imperial Majesty and is a full-time working member of the Imperial Family and the official Imperial Envoy to The Atlantean Imperial Colony of Perseus on Earth.
Crown Princess Adriana Stormont-Capetian is the fourth child of the Emperor and his only daughter. She is married to Crown Prince Capetain of the Centur Royal Family
Crown Prince Christopher Capetain is the heir apparent to the Centur Royal Throne. Married to Crown Princess Adriana they have one child, Sophie Brigid Capetain aged 2 years old.

Atlantean Economic Information and Trading Relationships
The economy of the Imperial Empire is one of the largest and most powerful in the known galaxy.It is liberal and open with little government intervention and low taxes both personal and corporate. Inflation, interest and unemployment rates are low and economic growth high. The country has a large service and advanced manufacturing sector. It leads in the Interstellar Alliance in many areas of technological research and development, primarily biotechnology, maglev development and space technology.
The currency of the kingdom is the Imperial Daran, represented by the symbol ID. The SCJU Single Currency, The Unio, is also accepted as a form of payment. The Imperial Treasury is the central bank, responsible for issuing currency. The Imperial Daran is also the official currency in the Imperial Colonies. The kingdom is a cashless society, instead all monetary transactions are processed via biometric smart payment cards and biometric enhanced debit/credit cards. Some individuals also use their integrated biometric citizen chip as their sole form of payment, this is directly linked to ther bank or credit account.
Agriculture in Atlantis intensive, efficient and highly mechanised. Roughly 55% of all agriculture work is carried out by machines and primarily hydroponic based it provides 70% of total food demand. Agriculture represents a very small percentage of the overall economy.
Manufacturing is the second largest economic sector. This industry is nearly 85% mechanised and people only become involved for highly detailed and custom work. Traditional industry has been replaced by clean and advanced manufacturing processes. The largest sectors are;

The space technology development sector is one of the most sophisticated and important within the manufacturing base. Naran Liberius of home to the Interstellar Alliance Technology Development Institute and is primarily concerned with ship design, propulsion, weapons and on-board technology. Development institutes are located all over ISA Space. The Centur Institute on Galaius Omega focuses on shield technology and Starius develops medical equipment for example.
The city is also home to the IASA Electronic and Communications Development Institute HQ. The IASA is the space exploration organisation of the SCJU.
The largest sector by far is the service sector. The economy of the Imperial Empire is heavily service based and within this the banking and insurance sectors are the largest and more important. The banks of Atlantis provide banking facilities to hundreds of billions of customers empire-wide and our the insurance corporations provide facilities for some of the most important companies, projects and economic assets in the galactic market place.
The capital city, Atlantis, is the most important economic and financial city in the region and one of the top 5 in the ISA. The Atlantis Stock Exchange, Futures Market, Atlantis Mercantile Exchange and Imperial Treasury are all based there. In additional to the countless corporate HQ's, banking and finance providers and the Europa Economic Forum HQ and the SCJU Stock Exchange. The Imperial Capital is also a mecca for shopping with almost every international brand present as well as thriving local retail presence. The city is home to flagship stores of some of Earth's largest retail consortium's, Amerikano of Tient, Harrod's of London (UK), Brown Thomas (IRE), Harvey Nichols (UK), Galleries Layette (FR), Bergdorf's of New York, House of Fraser (UK) and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Transport
ROAD NETWORKS
The Imperial Kingdom maintains a highly advanced and extensive integrated transport network. With over 890,000 km of high quality roadway which includes 11,000 km of motorways. Over 20,000 km of railways connect the country and all railway lines are capable of high speed services. The fastest line is the Atlantis to Naran Liberius, where trains can reach average service speeds of over 320km/h. In addition to the rail network the country also has a regular maglev service linking all major cities as well as being connected to Ireland which is turn connects to the maglev services in Britain via undersea tunnels.
There are five road classifications in Atlantis; Motorways (M), National Route (N), Radial Roads (A), Local roads (B) and unclassified, these consist of residential streets, access roads and private roads and are classified by name. Drivers drive on the left in Atlantis.
Motorways in the Imperial Kingdom do not have speed limits nor do express National routes. As a result of the increased risk of accidents all drivers are forbidden for manual driving on these routes and must, by law, allow the driverless system to operate the car. This has had the result of no accidents on motorways or national routes in the 60 years the system has existed. A safety record unrivalled anywhere else in the world.
he basis of the modern Atlantan railway network is built upon the old lines of Caledon. Caledon was one of the first nations to develop the railway after Great Britain, France and Germany. At the high of its success there were over 50,000km of railway. The modern system was completely re-developed and upgraded after the foundation of the Imperial Kingdom and now only comprises just over 20,000km. This includes a mix of high-speed intercity lines to the large suburban network around the major cities. All rail lines are built to support high-speed services but these are more common on express routes and intercity lines.
RAIL NETWORKS
The railway network is operated by TransAtlantis Rail and they run over 90% of rail services with First National operating the remainder and primarily focused around Naran Liberius. The Ministry for Transport is responsible for all railway track and computer system maintenance. The average operating line speed on high-speed services is 340km/h while the fastest is the non-stop Atlantis Central to Naran Liberius at 380km/h. The Atlantan rail network carries over 30 million people a year, the network does not carry freight. The largest rail station is Atlantis Central in the capital, from this station all national inter-city routes start/finish. As with the maglev services all trains on the network are computer controlled resulting in incredibly high punctuality, a high safety record and increased network efficiency, train cabs do have a driver, however he is there to monitor the system, drivers are forbidden from assuming control of the trains operations. Most services operate on a 24 hour basis running every day.

AIRPORTS AND SEAPORTS
Atlantis also has over 150 airports of which 8 are major airports, two of which are large internationals and one is a super-international. All of the airports are linked into the national transport network allowing for efficient and easy access to all of the country. The Kingdom also has two space ports to allow for easy transport of people and freight between the surface and the ISA Fleet of starships and transport cruisers in earth orbit.
The largest airport in the country is Atlantis International, its one of the largest in the world handling over 120 million passengers a year.The airport has 6 terminals and 4 runways two of which are dedicated supersonic aircraft runways. The newest terminal was completed four years ago, terminal 6 (pictured above) caters for 30 million passengers as well as providing exclusive OneAlliance departure and arrival facilities. OneAlliance is the SCJU airline alliance.
The flag carrier is Poseidon Airlines and it operates a large fleet of international and intercity sonic aircraft as well as standard Boeing 787's and Airbus A380's for use to SCJU nations.
Ports are relatively few in number as sea-borne trade has been replaced by more efficient means of goods transfer. The largest port is located in the city of Naran Liberius which is also home to the Atlantan Naval Fleet. Sea trade is no longer of global importance in the 24th century,
MAGLEV
The Imperial Kingdom operates one of the most extensive and advanced Maglev rail systems in the world. The system links every major city along one line with spurs to Atlantis and Naran Liberius International airports as well as a spur to the Celtic Strait tunnels where it connects to the system linking Belfast and Dublin to Atlantis. The Irish network is connected to Great Britain via means of the Tuskar Tunnel. This allows travel between London and Atlantis within 2 hours. The service operates at an average speed of 670km/h, one of the fastest maglev systems in the world. The Atlantis Transport Group operate the system and are world leaders in the development of the technology, exporting it around the globe as well as building and operating systems in the American Eastern Confederation, Canada, Australia and Africa. The majority of the network is above ground with the lines going underground in some urban area and using tunnels when needed. The network was one of the first trans-national networks to be developed after the war allowing the country to benefit from the economic benefit s it created. The entire network is computer controlled and since the system was opened there have been accidents involving the maglev trains, punctuality averages at 98% with annual passenger number of 4 million, the service operates 24 hours a day, everyday.
MASS TRANSIT
Cities in Atlantis operate a comprehensive mass transit system combining bus routes, underground rail, light-rail, suburban rail lines, guided bus-ways and ferry services where applicable. Each city has their own systems and they are tailored to suit populace need. The city of Atlantis has the most extensive inner-city and suburban mass transit system in the world with over 430km of underground rail alone, making it the largest underground rapid transit system in the world by length. The entire system is computer controlled bar some public bus routes that still employ drivers. Atlantis city has 10 underground lines with annual passenger numbers of over 1.5 billion. Like the rail and maglev service the underground rail operate a non-stop 24/7 service. Trams and buses start at 4.00am and stop at 1.00am. Suburban commuter rail also operate a non-stop service which has proved very popular especially with people coming into Atlantis for social and entertainment reasons.
All mass transit in Atlantis city is operated by the Atlantan Transport Group with the exception of commuter rail which is run by TransAtlantis Rail. Other city authorities are allowed to select what company operates their respective services. The ATG is the largest mass transit operator in the country, present in 6 cities, the second largest is Metropolitan which operates in Naran Liberius.
ATLANTIS CENTRAL TRANSPORT COMMAND - ACTC
The Imperial Kingdom operates a highly sophisticated automated transport control system. Every method of powered transport has driverless ability. All underground rail and above ground light rail is computer controlled. Standard rail does have a driver but most trains will be operated by the central network. Car vehicles are fitted with driverless control as standard and when driving on the motorway and national dual-carriageway network drivers are forbidden from assuming control of the car. Motorways have no speed limits and average speeds can reach over 120mph. Drivers may control the car when on the standard road network or less important roads. However the central transport computer will take control if the car or person driving posses a danger to other vehicles or citizens. Each vehicle will also communicate to each other, this prevent head-on collisions and in many cities elimated the need for old traffic management systems such as traffic lights.
The entire system is extremely complex and works in partnership with the National Identity Network. The system is dependant on various interdependent systems in order to operate successfully. The biometric implants in every Atlantan citizen communicates with the ACTC network in order to avoid road accidents or accidents involving people on the rail networks. The NIN will also notify ACTC and the Civil Defence Department is a driver is incapable or driving his/her vehicle for whatever reason. ACTC will deactivate the vehicle until Civil Defence authorities arrive on scene.
Its one of the most complex and sophisticated on earth and has resulted in the Imperial Kingdom having the best traffic accident record in history. There has not been a train accident, motorway or head-on collision in 100 years. The system is not however perfect and accidents with members of the public do occur, in 100 years 97 people have been killed as a result of an collision with a road vehicle, although tragic it remains in the best record in the world.
