THE DOMINION OF WALES PORTAL

The Dominion of Wales is a sovereign country bordering England in the east, the Bristol Channel in the south, Saint David's channel in the west and Irish sea in the North. The nation is a highly devolved political entity that shares many similarities with Swiss cantons. The Dominion is a British commonwealth memberstate, in addition to a very influential memberstate in the union. In 2009 the memberstate was voted first place as a superpower reflecting the tenacity and strength of this innovative and progressive nation.
Civil liberties and rights are held absolutely sancrosanct in the Dominion of Wales, New Rhodesia most of all. Libertarianism is the chief national value of the country, which promotes highly productive social programs and education is valued tremendously. While it would be expected that libertarianism would promote suspicion, distrust and ultimately the illigetimacy of the government. The reverse is actually true. This is almost wholly due to the Direct Democracy practices and systems throughout the nation rendering it a confederation of sorts. While there are certainly examples of representative democracy in the Dominion, elected officials serve as the "default" system of governance when the people are either unable to come to a consensus or a majority when voting, or where the people themselves are either apathetic or unwilling to vote on certain pieces of legislature.
